With the November 15th 2006 submissions deadline just around the corner for entry to the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, Executive Supervisor, Svante Stockselius today confirmed to esctoday.com that “the preliminary list of participating countries will be announced in the beginning of December and the final list in the beginning of January”.

Once the deadline for submissions passes, the EBU will need time to check and confirm the entries received. Also, with a strong likelihood that more than 40 entries will be submitted, they will need time to decide how to determine the participating countries for 2007, and confirm with them, and any countries that have to be turned away, before the list can be made public.

Mr Stockselius also confirmed once more that there will be no exception to the rule which states that only broadcasters that are an active member of EBU at the time of the deadline are allowed to participate in 2007, so once again confirming that there will beno Luxembourg, no Azerbaijan at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain. I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
