With so much speculation about the Swiss national selection for their 2007 Eurovision Song Contest entry, esctoday.com contacted the broadcasting union, SRG/SSR, to ask for confirmation about applications and how the song will be selected.

Although the deadline for entry submissions has been extended until 30th November 2006, no confirmation about the selection process had been known. Esctoday.com has been told today that:

"We are not able to give you any names and neither a number of the submitted entries. We can only tell you that at the beginning of December a national jury will decide which singer and which song will represent Switzerland at the ESC 2007".

We also asked when the song and performer will be announced and were told:"Switzerland also plans to announce the singer and song at the earliest, bymid-december". So the race is on to be the first country to declare their entry for the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, with Switzerland joining Albania and Armenia in the running!

The Swiss entry will participate in the semi-final of the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki onMay 10th after Six-4-One finished in 17th place with 30 points in 2006.
