New cover version of L'oiseau et l'enfant

A new cover version of the song L'oiseau et l'enfant (The bird and the child) has been published by young French singer Karol. Performed by Marie Myriam, that song won the Eurovision Song Contest for France back in 1977 and has been the last French winner so far. The new version is quite techno-like and obviously mainly adressed to children.

Karol's version has entered the French sales charts on 85 position last week. The singer already had a minor hit this year, having covered Sascha Distel's song Le bateau blanc (The white boat). Songs in that specific techno/pop style have been very succesful in France lately. Earlier this year, a similar cover version, recorded by Pigloo, even topped the single charts: Le papa pingouin represented Luxembourg in 1980 and achieved a 9th position, sung by the identical twin sisters Sophie & Magaly.
