Ortal, the 2005 French representative at the 50th Eurovision Song Contest held in Kiev, is back under the spotlights. The singer of Andalusian and Berber origins, who gave birth to beautiful twins a few months ago in Paris, appears as the lead singer of DJ Maze’s latest track titled Plus près de moi.

Born in Israel, Ortal began to sing at a very young age. In 2000, the singer moved to Spain to join the group Gipsy Sound. When Ortal won the 2005 French national final for the Eurovision Song Contest with the up-tempo number Chacun pense à soi, she was a rather unknown artist. Her entry peaked at #52 and #47 in the French and Belgian music charts respectively but failed to impress the European viewers who awarded her song the 23rd rank out of 24 in the Eurovision big final.

Since Kiev, Ortal has mainly focused her singing career on renditions of popular Jewish and Israeli songs, releasing no less than 7 albums. She also regularly appears as a performer in some very trendy clubs of the French capital, signing some nice cooperation such as with DJ Maze.

DJ Maze shot to fame back in 1999 when qualifying for the final of the DMC French Cup (DJ Music Contest). Since then, the artist has launched his own music labels P2S Records and Amazing Entertainment and has sold over 1 million copies of his albums. His latest single Plus près de moi feat. Ortal has just been released in Belgium and is expected to hit the dance floors pretty soon in France too. Though she is not appearing in the music video, one will recognize the voice of Ortal who performed both in French and English on the occasion.
