DR, the Danish national broadcaster has announced the names of the dream team that will be behind next year’s Eurovision Song Contest scheduled to be held in Denmark. Eventhough the host city nor the venue have been announced, the Danish broadcaster has already started preparing for next year’s Eurovision.

Last Saturday Denmark’s Emmelie De Forest brought back the Eurovision trophy on home soil for the 3rd time when she took Europe by storm with her song Only teardrops. Jan Lagermand Lundme, (Head of Entertainment at DR) and Soren Therkelsen (Head of Events at DR) will be joining forces with Pernille Gaardbo in order to organize and produce the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

47-year-old Pernille Gaardbo, has been working at DR for 17 years – the last 12 years as the head of DR Media Services, which is the Danish broadcaster’s largest production department with 220 employees.

Experienced leader with technical insight

Pernille Gaardbo is a trained and qualified television producer with great experience, and was originally employed as a producer, where she helped to start DR2. As head of the DR Media Service, she had the overall responsibility for the organization behind the technical implementation of DR’s big entertainment shows, such as the Danish Melodi Grand Prix, P3 Gold and X Factor.

“With the election of Pernille Gaardbo we get someone who has both the experience required to perform a task of this magnitude, and the technical knowledge required for producing such a large television production, as the Eurovision Song Contest” says DR’s General Director Maria Rørbye Ronn. She continues “It is a combination that is required, and with Pernille Gaardbo’s great experience at DR we have someone who is solidly equipped to take on this task”.

“In DR we have never been more ready than now to take on such a task. We have worked systematically to optimize our production over the past few years, so we are fully geared to handle a production of the enormous magnitude of the Eurovision Song Contest is“, Pernille Gaardbo adds.

She also goes on to mention that it is important that DR should kick off preparations for the forthcoming EurovisionSong Contest as soon as possible as a lot of planning and arranging is required in order to organize such a massive event: “It is a comprehensive task, which has both an event section and three great shows. So now we have put the right team of people who collectively cover the skills that are needed”.
