Former Eurovision Song Contest participant, Evridiki, who represented Cyrpus in 1992 with the song Teriazoume and sang Ime anthropos ke ego in 1994 has ended speculation that has been stirred up recently by local press and some Eurovision websites.
The popular singer, who also recorded the1979Greek Eurovision Song Contest entry Sokrati, esi superstar on the remix album Euro-Re-Visionsfeaturing previous Greek Eurovision Song Contest entries put the record straight on her official website regarding any future participation:
In response to these rumours, Evridiki says:"There is no official proposal. I am fan of Eurovision, I have already participated both as vocalist and as a contestant, and I really enjoyed it! I think that with a really good song, I might go again!" This leaves the door open should the right song be found, but at this stage, there is no agreement.
News that Evidriki along with Dimitris Korgialas had accepted an invitation to complete a hat-trick of Eurovision Song Contest entries for Cyprus "to save – represent the honour of theisland" was published by Oikotimes on July 12th. CyBC has yet to make a final decision about the selection process for participation at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.
Evridiki has now completed her summer tour of Greece and is concentrating on a new album which will contain songs writed by herself and Korgialas, but with a release date of late 2006, it is almost certain that the album will not contain the 2007 Cypriot Eurovision Song Contest entry!
