Swansea in Wales will be holding a street party to celebrate local girl Bonnie Tyler’s performance of her song Believe in me in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo on Saturday 18 May.

The party will be held in Castle Square in Swansea from 18.30 BST Saturday 18 May. Before the main event – the final, which starts at 20.00 BST and will be shown on a big screen in the square  – there will be performances by a street dance troupe and a Bonnie Tyler impersonator. They have also promised to get the party atmosphere going with UK and Welsh flags, and also Bonnie Tyler masks, which will be distributed to the crowd.

Nick Bradley, from Swansea Council says “she’s a proud local girl who went onto superstardom, so I’d encourage people to flock to Castle Square, let their hair down and enjoy what’s going to be a night to remember.”

Bonnie will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Katrina and the Waves, who last won for the UK in 1997 with their song Love shine a light.
