The Moldovan entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, Boonika bate doba, has unexpectedly charted in Denmark, over a year after the group Zdob si zdub achieved a sixth placing on Moldova's debut in Kyiv.

The unforgettable Boonika bate doba (Grannie beats the drum) is currently sitting at position ten in the Danish singles charts, as compiled by IFPI Danmark.

Chart success abroad is a feat that many Eurovision artists aspire to, but few achieve, including the winners themselves in some cases. Zdob si zdub have achieved just that, though with more than a year since their appearance in Kyiv, the achievement is quite impressive. Even the cynics may start to admit the opportunities for exposurethat the Eurovision Song Contest can offer to artists from countries which would otherwise go unnoticed.
