The Belgian delegation head and national final producer Steve De Coninck said that “when Sergio wins the Eurovision Song Contest, VRT will definately host the show next year”.
Belgium contains a Flemish (Dutch speaking) part and a Wallonian (French speaking) part with different broadcasters. For Flanders it's the VRT, for Wallonia it's RTBF. Last time Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest, RTBF had the chance to choose a representative. This year the organisation was in Flemish hands.
In case if Sergio & The Ladies would win the contest with 'Sister', VRT will definately host the next Eurovision Song Contest. The Wallonian broadcasting company will send the Belgian representative then.
Although many fans prefer the Sportpaleis in Antwerpen as venue for a possible Eurovision Song Contest, that's not defenitaly sure according to De Coninck.
The Belgian delegation had planned to set up a van selling Flemish fries outside the Saku Suurhall as publicity stunt for Sergio, but catering company Bevers, who had agreed to supply and set up the van, have been told they have left it too late to obtain the necessary permits to serve food. “The Tallinn authorities were to busy with the contest and the security, so it took longer to arrange the permission. Now it's too late”, according to the catering company.
