2006 Eurovision Song Contest host broadcaster ERT spends 3 million euros – 25 percent of the entire budget of this year's contest – on the production of the 37 postcards. The postcards will be based on surveys in all participating countries, asking what people associate with Greece. A large part of the budget has been covered by national and international sponsors.

Tourism campaign
Traditionally, the host country will be fully promoted in the 37 postcards. “An impressive, international tourism campaign is expensive as well. The Eurovision Song Contest is a perfect platform to achieve equal or even better results. That's why it is worth the investment”, Fanis Papathanisiou of ERT said. To decide what to show in the postcards, ERT hold surveys in all participating countries, asking what people associate Greece with.

Opening act
Apart from the postcards, ERT also announced more details about the opening act. Helena Paparizou will sing two songs, including My number one, and a special, spectacular choreography is currently being prepared.
