FYR Macedonia and the Eurovision Song Contest
A 14th place is all the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia got at the Eurovision Song Contest. This year, the Macedonian televoters were responsible for choosing the participant. 51 songs were submitted, 20 of them were selected for the final. After an exciting battle, Elena Risteska won the final with 6,999 votes, only 100 more than runners-up Adrian Gaxha and Esma Redzepova.

Elena Risteska was born on 27th April, 1986, and studied Italian and literature at the University of Sts. Kiril & Metodij. In 2002 she won Search for a New Star, in 2003 he first album Den i nok was released.
