Daz Sampson is a man with a mission as he tries to rally UK support and get the nation behind his forthcoming entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in the lead-up to Athens 2006.
On a promotional tour which will eventually leave the country for Poland and Russia, amongst other destinations, Daz has recently concentrated his efforts on former host city Birmingham, which will culminate in a guest PA at premiere nightclub The Nightingale. He will be appearing there on 15th April, little over a month before his appearance in the Athens final.
At a press conference prior to winning the UK national selection Making your mind up, Daz outed himself as a “huge Eurovision fan”, and confessed his pain at the UK's recent dismal performance at the contest. He has stressed the importance of drumming up national pride in the UK entry and of getting the whole country behind him as he flies the flag on the international stage, and the UK promotional tour is all part of this plan to put the UK “back on top”.
