Karlstad calling! Magnus Carlsson and Kikki Danielsson qualified for the final of Melodifestivalen 2006. Niclas Wahlgren and Velvet qualified for the second chance heat of the Swedish national selection for the 51st Eurovision Song Contest.

After the first voting round, the songs ending up sixth or lower were elimnated; The Elephantz, Östen med resten and Pablo Cepeda. The top five proceeded to the second round of voting. After another voting round, it appeared Sonya finished in 5th place. The first song to qualify was Kiki Danielsson, who performed Idag & imorgen for a second time. Then the two songs progressing to the second chance round were announced. That left Magnus Carlsson and Sonya sweating on the final place in the final. Magnus was announced as Sweden's 4th finalist and closed teh show with a second performance of Lev livet.
The next semifinal takes place next Saturday.
