The BBC have exclusively told esctoday.com that the press articles over the weekend in the UK are mere speculation. The News of the World article claimed that five acts, Chico (of exfactor fame), Liberty X, Natasha (formerly of Attomic Kitten), DJ Dan and 4 Storey would battle to represent the United Kingdom in the Making your mind up national selection contest on March 4th.

Speaking to esctoday.com this afternoon, Kirsty Campbell told us that the 'news' was purely speculative. “We are still in discussions with various artists for Making your mind up, and no decision has yet been made as to the final line-up”. Exfactor hopefuls had voiced approval that it could be 'Chicotime' in Athens, whilst fans of the Eurovision Song Contest seemed less happy about the name.

Clouded in mystery at the moment, Making your mind up, announcements are expected in approximately two weeks. The BBC has yet to confirm that there will be five songs in the final, paving the way for a possible expansion of the event. Tickets for the event will be available through the BBC ticket hotline from Wednesday morning. The winning song from the Sold on song competition, which may also feature in the national selection show. is due to be announced later this week.

The United Kingdom will compete in the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 20th in Athens.
