Lithuanian broadcaster LRT received 68 songs for its 2006 Eurovision Song Contest selection. That's 5 songs more than last year and 6 songs more than in 2004. Approximately 20 of them come from abroad.
The performers will be invited by LRT. Some of the names mentioned in the press are Amberlife (with the same song in Latvia and Lithuania), Bavarija, Saulės Klio�as, NEO, Alanas Cho�nau, Edmundas Kučinskas, Pusbroliai Aliukai ir sesutė, Rūta Luko�evičiūtė, Mantas, Egidijus Sipavičius, Giulija, Artas, Road Band, InCulto and the special project LT United, which exists of Andrius Mamontovas, Wictor Diawara (Skamp) and some others. Some Fame Factory participants are mentioned as potential performers as well.
Amberlife already announced that, in case his song wins in both Latvia and Lithuania, he prefers to represent Lithuania in Athens.
The Lithuanian selection for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest will start on 7th January and will run weekly. Two semifinals will take place in February, the final is to take place on 4th March. Because Laura & The Lovers came last in this year's semifinal, Lithuania has to go through the semifinal on 18th May in Athens, Greece.
