Dutch selection format revealed 22nd November

On 22nd November, Dutch broadcaster NOS will reveal its 2006 national selection details. The location of the press conference couldn't be chosen better; café VAKZUID in the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium. A first Olympic, Greek link! VAKZUID, one of the most trendy locations in the Dutch capital, also symbolises the new direction NOS is following. The 2006 national selection will more “younger and more trendy”.

Over the past months, a new team has been working hard on a new format to select the Dutch Eurovision Song Contest representative. “And if we say new, we're talking about really new”, a press release said. It's already known one or more internally selected artists will perform, but the name(s) and selection details are unknown. Fans and critics closely followed the developments, but so far NOS managed to keep everything inside.

Paul de Leeuw, who will host the final on 12th March, will also host the press conference, where esctoday.com will be present as well.

On various message boards and website, fans discuss the possibilities and rumours. Some make sense, some don't. A come-back of Marlayne for example, who represented the Netherlands in 1999 with One good reason, seems impossible, as she is anchor woman for a leading Dutch commercial television channel. According to earlier rumours, three participants will sing three songs each. What the format will exactly look like, will be known in 11 days…
