Famous singer Vicky Leandros, who was born in Greece, lives in Germany and represented Luxembourg twice in the Eurovision Song Contest, is celebrating 40 years of career this autumn.

According to her record company, Vicky Leandros sold more than 40 million records all over the world. She is said to have launched 452 albums, containing a huge amount of various international versions of her songs. In 1965, her first single Messer, Gabel, Schere, Licht (Knife, fork, scissors, fire)* appeared, followed by her first album Songs und Folklore. Her new album Ich bin wie ich bin (I am, what I am) contains her most succesful songs, as well as the German versions of both her Eurovision Song Contest entries, namely L'amour est blue from 1967 and Après toi from 1972. You will also find two new songs on the double CD. Furthermore, she will go on tour through Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Presumably, she will do 22 concerts.

Fremd in einer großen Stadt and S.C.H.E.I.D.U.N.G. are her new songs. Sag mir wo die Blumen sind is a German version of the very famous song Where have all the flowers gone. Theo, wir fahrn nach Lodz was her biggest hit in Germany: in 1973 it was among the Top 10 of the single charts for four months. The song Die Liebe ist rot (Love is red) seems to be a bit inconsistency, as in 1967 in Vienna, she sang L'amour est bleu, which literally menas 'Love is blue'.

In 1967, Vicky Leandros finshed 4th with L'amour est bleu. Five years later, in 1972, she won the contest with Après toi.

*Messer, Gabel, Schere, Licht is part of a fomous German saying, which tells children not to play with dangerous things.
