Latvian Television (LTV) has announced the running order for its national selection for the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The entry to represent the country in Hasselt, Belgium, and will be chosen on 17th September by televoters.
Walters & Kazha, who represented Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, hosted the draw. They had to find ten bottles with numbers hidden all around Ventspils, the town where the Latvian junior event will take place. When the number was found the passers by were involved in choosing a toy fish from Walters&Kazha's basket, holding an envelope with the finalist's name.
The results of the draw:
1. Laura Grigorjeva – Bam, bam, bam (Bam, bam, bam)
Laura is 10 years old, from Riga. She has showed good results in several competitions and festivals in Latvia as well as in Lithuania, Belorussia and Slovakia.
2. Kristiana Stirane – Lielais baltais draugs (My big white friend)
When Kristiana was 5, she took part in Italian Children Song Contest Tralcio d� Oro�. She sings in a pop-group Putnu balle which ended up second at the Baltic Song Contest in Sweden this summer.
3. Elina Zarina & Ieva Vilcina – Velies (Wish!)
Elina wrote the music for the song. She has two Grand Prix at the Paris Contest of Young Pianist. Ieva, responsible for the lyrics, wishes the other participants of junior final to make new friends and have fun.
4. Ieva Sutugova – Nac lidz! (Come with me)
Ieva's favourites in music are Slade, Queen, Brainstorm. She participates in the final to find out if the public likes her song.
5. Kristine Brjazgunova – Karnevals (Carnival)
In her free time, Kristine likes to play the piano, sing and relax. She has successfully participated in different competitions: Grand Prix in Dzintara zvaigzne (Amber Star) (2004, Latvia), 2nd place at Fair Play (2005, Estonia), 1st place at World Star (2004, Latvia).
6. Madara Gregere – Viss notiksies! (Everything will happen!)
Madara is from Ventspils and sings in a popgroup Juras akmentini (Sea Stones). She likes Latvian music – groups C-Stones, Prego, Brainstorm.
7. Daniels Groza & Monta Belinska – Es esmu maza, jauka meitene (I'm a little lovely girl)
Daniels and Monta sing in the pop-group Okey in their hometown Smiltene. Daniel likes reading. His favuorite is The Lord of the Rings. Monta prefers poetry and stories.
8. Ilze Ozolina – Naciet visi man lidzi (Everybody come with me)
Ilze decided to take part in the Junior Song Contest because she wanted to feel the “taste” of Eurovision. To her mind, the most important thing is to smile and not to worry.
9. Sabine Berezina –Reiz kada pilseta (Once upon a time in a city)
Sabine is the most experienced participant – it is the third time as she gets to the finals. She has taken part in contests in Italy, Poland, Germany, Rumania, Belarussia and other countries.
10. Evita Grzibovska –Lidojums sapni (A flight in a dream)
Evita studies piano at a music school. Her dream is to release an album with her songs.
Arturs Toms Pless from Bauska is the backup entry with the song Talu projam (Far away).
