Ellen ten Damme has breast cancer

Ellen ten Damme, the Dutch rock singer who participated in this year's German national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, has breast cancer. Today she will undergo a breast saving surgery.

Ellen discovered a tumour recently, during the recording of a television show in Berlin. “She is shocked, as this came so unexpected”, friends of Ellen said to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Ellen ten Damme participated in the German national final for this year's Eurovision Song Contest with the controversial song Plattgeliebt. The song, originally titled Plattgefickt, has to becensored. Recently, Ellen has been working on the album Back to rock and roll, together with her band. In January she will start a theatre tour called Unbeschreiblich weiblich.
