SF DRS, TSR and TSI have launched the search for the Swiss representative for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. Like in 2005, the Swiss broadcasters are looking for experienced candidates with strong songs.
For the first time in many years Switzerland achieved a good result at the Eurovision Song Contest, this year with Vanilla Ninja. The Swiss broadcasters are convinced that the Eurovision Song Contest is no longer a contest for youngsters or new talents. Good reasons for SF DRS, TSR and TSI to repeat last year's strategy.
Switzerland is again looking for singers who are able to present themselves in a professional way on stage of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, aiming for a good result in the final. SF DRS, TSR and TSI believe that this is only possible with the best performers and the best songwriters.
Artists who would like to bid for representing Switzerland in Athens can be of any nationality but should have stage and television experience, have released an album that reached the top 50 of the official album charts and have released at least one professional video clip. Proposals can be submitted to SF DRS in Zürich or to TSR in Genève.
For the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, Switzerland internally selected the Estonian girl band Vanilla Ninja. With the song Cool vibes they finished 8th in the final in Kyiv.
