The Danish broadcaster DR restyled its logo, as well as the branding of its public radio- and television channels. The new logo is not very different from the previous one, which was installed in 1996 and based on the DR logo designed in 1964.

The new logo design was adapted on 1st of June. Head of Communications at DR, Troels Brøndsted, explained that the new logo is “more suitable for multimedial applications, like internet, mobile phones and teletext”.

The release of the new logo comes in time for the start of a new campaign about public service. Within a year, DR will move to another location and its cost-efficient to change the logo at the same time as letter heads and other print material has to be produced.

DR got its first logo in 1964. Connie Linck created it, inspired by graphics in postal stamps from Bolivia, Chile and Costa Rica from the 50s. Although the shape has slightly changed over time, as well as the shade of red, this upgraded logo design is still close to its original.

You can see the old logo in this old news article.
