Patricia Kaas, the 2009 French Eurovision representative, is currently touring France and the whole world with her show Kaas Chante Piaf, a tribute to the famous French singer Edith Piaf who passed away 50 years ago. The show proves very successful and the singer is constantly adding new dates to her tour which will bring her all over Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa (see our events section). To promote the concept of the show and the album, the French singer has revealed today the music video of the second single entitled Avec ce soleil.

After the famous L’Hymne à l’amour as a first extract, the popular singer decided to release her own rendition of a much less known track by Edith Piaf entitled Avec ce soleil back in January (see previous article here). A song Patricia Kaas discovered thanks to Serge Lama, the 1971 French Eurovision entrant, who suggested she should sing it. The music video will be exclusively available on the internet.

Patricia Kaas will perform on the stage of the prestigious Olympia music hall in Paris up to Saturday evening before carrying on with her tour in France and abroad. The singer is promoting a lot her tribute album on TV and on the radio, and the formula proves extremely successful. During a recent interview, Patricia Kaas revealed that she will be working pretty soon on a new original album to be released as soon as the Kaas chante Piaf adventure ends probably in 2014. This would be the singer’s first original album since Sexe fort back in 2003 and Kabaret in 2009 which was already a concept album paying tribute to the music from 1930’s that included her Eurovision entry Et s’il fallait le faire.

Besides her very busy music agenda, Patricia Kaas is nominated for the Best Female Actress Award for her role in the TV drama Assassinée at the French TV and Radio Lauriers Awards ceremony organised by the Paris Audiovisual Club and held at Paris Town Hall on 4 March. This was Patricia Kaas’ first main role in a TV drama, a particularly dark and emotionnaly demanding role for the singer who had to impersonate Cathy, a mother devastated by the loss of her daughter. The drama, broadcast on France 3 in 2012, gathered almost 6 millions viewers, a huge success for the channel, and the performance of Patricia Kaas was critically acclaimed by both the public and the professionals.
