Glennis Grace, who didn't manage to qualify for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest final representing the Netherlands, will release her new single Shake up the party next week. She performed the song yesterday night as guest of Barend & Van Dorp, a popular late-night talk show.

While Grace performed her new song, it appeared that the Dutch people indeed voted against the European constitution. The fact that Glennis Grace did not qualify for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest was a new and strong reason for many Dutch people to vote against it, poll research showed two weeks ago. Prime Minister Balkenende was shocked: “It's the world upside-down that Glennis Grace is being connected to the referendum about the European constitution”, he said.

Everyone agrees that the outcome of the Dutch referendum brought the European Union in a difficult situation, but we will never know the influence of Glennis Grace on this result. And the European constitution itself? That seems more and more an impossible dream…
