Toni Wachter, responsible for Eurovision Song Contest matters at Swiss broadcaster SF DRS, will propose the European Broadcasting Union to change the voting procedure at the contest. Wachter wants to introduce the professional jury again and explained his vision in the Swiss television magazine TV Star.
Wachter earlier proposed the EBU to bring the juries back. “Now, I'll do it again from a position of strength. I'm thinking of a mix of televoting and a neutral professional jury,” explains Wachter while adding that the professional jury could also include music and show experts from the United States of America.
Wachter counts on the 'Big 4' nations France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom to support his plans. The 'Big 4' countries, the Eurovision Song Contests biggest financial contributors, occupied the last four positions at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest final. Switzerland finished 8th with the Estonian girls of Vanilla Ninja.
