More than a month ago, Israeli broadcaster IBA promised to put a Eurovision Song Contest online every other weekend until this year's contest. As a last gift to the fans all over Europe, the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest in Paris can now be watched on Eurovil.
In 1978, Israel won the Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time. Izhar Cohen & Alphabeta sang Israel to the top with the song A-ba-ni-bi, defeating Belgium's Jean Vallée with L'amour ça fait chanter la vie. After 22 participations, Belgium reached the top 3 for the first time. French representative Joël Prévost finished third with Il y aura toujours des violons.
The contest held in Paris included two more remarkable entries. Baccara represented Luxembourg with Parlez-vous Français and this year's Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix finalist Jahn Teigen became the first singer to succeed in finishing with nil points, since the new and currently still used voting system was introduced.
