For the first time, not only a Dutch edition of Liet (which means 'song' in Frisian, a minority language in the Netherlands) will be held, but also an international song contest will be organised.
Liet 2002 International is a contest especially for European minority languages.
The contest, which is not an EBU initiative but an idea from the Netherlands, also launched its own website.
Details about this year's edition of Liet are not yet known. Just like this variation on the Eurovision Song Contest, there are – for example – also the Senior Song Contest and the Campaign Song Contest, which is a compilation cd from the Dutch labour party PvdA.
