Israel's broadcaster IBA is webcasting this weekend the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The 1989 song contest was arranged by Switzerland after Celine Dion had won the contest the previous year in Dublin. Celine opened the show by performing her winning song Ne partez pas sans moi, and then sang one of her first hits in English, Where Does my Heat Beat Now?. The contest is also remembered by being quite of a children's song festival when both Israel and France sent 12 year old singers to represent them. Gili from Israel reached the 12th position performing not to smoothly Derech Ha'Melech, while France' Nathalie Pâque managed an 8th place.

The winner was the last performer of the night, group Riva of Yugoslavia who sang Rock Me, gaining only 7 points more than the United Kingdom's entrant, Live Report with their song Why do I always get it wrong?. German writers Dieter Bohlen and Joachim Horn-Bernges wrote both entries of Germany and Austria of that year.
