After numerous plagiarism scandals this year, it seems that also the Austrian entry 'Say a word' is not completely new.

The song 'Say a word' performed by Manuel Ortega is partly similar to the '70's song 'All right now' by the group Free. You can listen this song in midi version here.

The Austrian newspaper Der Standard published an article today about this item. It wrote that an independent music expert in Germany has been commissioned to carry out an investigation on the wishes of the composer, Alexander Kahr from record company EMI Music.

ORF agrees with EMI's appraisal that “pop songs always have similarities in certain sequences, so an accusation of plagiarism is unjustified”. As planned, the song will go forward as Austria's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest in Estonia.
