The Maltasong committee, the Maltese delegation for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest 2005 together with all the participants of Malta Song for Europe 2005 have launched the CD single containing the song which opened this year's Maltese national final, Eurolivin.
The CD single contains only one track, Eurolivin written and composed by all the singers who took part in this year's Malta Song for Europe.
A few days before the national final took place, last February 2005, the singers were locked up for a weekend in a house in Valletta, filmed on a 24/7 basis, as in Big Brother. The song was one of the tasks which the singers had to carry out together as one team. The song was actually made by putting all titles from Malta Song for Europe 2005 finalist entries together.
The cd single was launch on Thursday 28th April at around 20:00 CET at Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel in St. Julians. Among the honorable guests for this launch, one could find Lawrence Gonzi, Prime Minister of Malta, Francis Zammit Dimech, Minister for Tourism and Culture, under whose auspices the Malta Song For Europe festival is organised. Grace Borg, head of the Malta Song Board and head of Maltese delegation for Euroviison Song Contest 2005, members of the Malta Song Board, singers, composers, authors and various others from the local music and tv scene attended the launch.
In her opening speech, Borg announced that the Malta International Song Contest, after a two-year absence, will be organised again, towards the end of this summer. She also announced that all profits from the CD single Eurolivin are going to local children in need suffering cancer. Guests were also asked to contribute with a donation.
Chiara, who will represent Malta at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, could not attend the launch due to her presence in Belgium as part of her promo tour. Meanwhile, eurosong.be informed OGAE Malta and esctoday.com that Dutch TV cancelled Chiara's visit and thus the Maltese singer will not visit the Netherlands.
