Remixing is hot again! After the remixes of Gülseren's Rimi rimi ley, now several fans and DJ's remixed Geir Rönning's 2005 Eurovision Song Contest entry Why.
Markus Wagner (twice!), PaleDay, David Choi (won the David Bowie remix contest hosted by Bowie himself earlier this year) Gus Caveda, Willie McCulloch, Surrealistic Penguin, Hogfish, Johan Lennartsson created remixes of the Finnish Eurovision Song Contest entry Why.
At this point, there are no plans to release the remixes commercially. “If they are released, it will probably just be an online stream of the music as a gift to the Eurovision Song Contest fans”, the song's writer said to esctoday.com. “The mixes were just a fun project (…) I asked my music friends from all over the globe to participate, to empathize the thought behind the lyrics of the song… that no matter who we are or where we are, and no matter if our contributions are small or large, we truly can come together to make a difference”.
Whether the remix was created in a tiny amateur home studio or a professional soundlab, you can still hear the heart of the song in them. In cooperation with songwriter Steven Stewart we can exclusively present you the first Markus Wagner remix.
