Belgium's 1999 representative Vanessa Chinitor is planning a come back. After several years of musical silence, she will be releasing a new album by this summer. To Flemish news paper Het Nieuwsblad, Vanessa Chinitor confessed that she is looking forward to make a bid to representing Belgium once again.
Since she represented Belgium at the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel with the song Like the wind, the musical career of Vanessa Chinitor had been running down the hill. For a while, Vanessa Chinitor was focussing at her job as television host at Flemish commercial broadcaster VT4, but now it's time for musical plans again.
Vanessa Chinitor broke through after winning the Flemish Belgian national selections Eurosong 1999. “Without Eurosong there wouldn't have been a singing carreer,” Vanessa greatfully said. “I would like to participate once again, but it's too soon now. Although it's six years ago, it still feels like it was yesterday. As soon as I feel that the time is right, I will take part in Eurosong again. Participating in the Eurovision Song Contest was an unforgettable experience after all!”
While giving performances all over Flanders, Vanessa Chinitor is preparing a new album to be released by next summer. The album will be completely in Dutch and include covers, own songs she released several years ago and the Dutch version of her Eurovision Song Contest entry, entitled Hoog op de wind. On the long haul, Vanessa Chinitor is planning to write own new songs.
With Like the wind, Vanessa Chinitor finished 12th for Belgium at the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest in Jerusalem.
