Dutch broadcaster AVRO has received more than 2000 subscription for the upcoming Dutch selections for the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In September 10 songs will be in the running for representing the Netherlands at the third edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Hasselt.

Today was the deadline for submitting songs to the Dutch Junior Eurovision Song Contest selections. A record amount of 2000 kids have subscribed to take part in the Dutch Junior Nationaal Songfestival 2005, twice as much as last year!

AVRO will now select 50 songs to participate in auditions to be held in Hilversum on 5th and 6th May. A professional jury will then decide which 10 songs will proceed to the finals of Junior Nationaal Songfestival 2005. Those will consist of two semifinals on 10th and 17th September. The best 5 kids will proceed to the final to be held on Saturday 24th September.

The winner of the Dutch selections will succeed Klaartje & Nicky, who finished 11th with the song Hij is een kei at last year's Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Lillehammer. The 2005 Dutch junior representative can prepare for a trip to Hasselt, just over the border with Belgium, where the third edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held.
