In a brief press release, the Spanish public broadcaster TVE has just announced to quit Operación Triunfo. For three years, the talent show was used as the Spanish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Budget
TVE's management considers that, with the current budget, they cannot afford the money needed to produce the show with Gestmusic. Nevertheless, TVE expressed its satisfaction because of the huge success of Operación Triunfo in the past seasons. In 2002, Rosa became a national star after she won the first edition of Operación Triunfo. With Europe's living a celebration she was one of the favourites for victory in Tallinn, but ended up 7th.
