The Belteleradiocompany of Belarus revealed more details about the country’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. Unlike the past years, the participating singers and their producers will have to support the costs of the song arrangements, tracks and stage performance.  According to the national broadcaster, a total number of 80 applications were submitted.

The national selection veterans are back in the competition and will try once again to represent the Eastern European country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Popular names like Alyona Lanskaya, the singer that was disqualified from the national selection of 2012, Aleksandra & Konstantin, the duo that represented Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul, Uzari, The Champions and the band “Aura” will compete for the right to represent Belarus in Malmö.

The competing acts will have to face three phases of the national selection: a pre-audition, a semi-final and the grand final where only 5 acts will proceed. The representative of Belarus will be selected on 7 December through a combination of jury and public votes.

The jury will consist of 17 members, all of them music experts including Yarmolenko, Rainchik and Tikhanovich. The head of the jury will be Gennady Davydko, the chairman of Belteleradiocompany.
