The winner of the 48th Eurovision Song Contest, Sertab Erener, has given her opinion about this year's Turkish entry Rimi rimi ley. “This song will not bring us the points we got the last two years”,
the first Turkish Eurovision Song Contest winner told the editors of Hurriyet.

According to Sertab, “We can do better with professional names and songs, but TRT decided to select like this, so nobody can say anything about that”. After hearing Rimi rimi ley, she said: “I don't see a big chance for this song. I've heard they wanted to do something different. They will for sure play with the song and bring it to a higher production level, but I don't expect it to end up high. I hope it will, but I am pessimistic.”

Sertab wasn't positive about the performer either: “Gulseren is an amateuristic name and I've never heard of her. I don't expect a professional performance on stage”.

In English?
Hurriyet also asked Sertab if she would have been succesful had she sung Every way that I can in Turkish: “For years now, everyone has been asking me that same question. I made it clear by becoming first in 2003 (…) so Turkey should sing in English. I always said it and I will keep saying so. I don't know why TRT decided to allow songs to be performed in Turkish”.

50th anniversary show
As recent winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Sertab hopes to be selected among the top 10 who will perform in Copenhagen. “I think people will remember me because I won in 2003, which is quite recent”, she said.
