The first name for the 50th anniversary show of the Eurovision Song Contest has been revealed: Sir Cliff Richard! Nevertheless, Danish broadcaster DR has Abba on its priority list.
Last year for the occasion of the 30th aniversary of their Eurovision Song Contest victory, Abba was very close a reunion, when three of the Abba members accepted the offer, only Agneta refused. Without a doubt, Waterloo will be selected to compete in the contest to select the best Eurovision Song Contest entry ever. The question has thus arisen again whether Abba will show up in the event, to be held on 22nd October in Copenhagen,
Danish broadcaster DR expressed already to be happy when three of the Abba members would show up to perform Waterloo. “I still hope that this show will make them reconsider,” explained Søren Therkelsen of DR to Danish newspaper BT. “They don't need to be with four, three of them is ok too.”
A confirmed performer at the Extravaganza is Sir Cliff Richard. Even if he won't be selected to compete in the competitions, he will be in Copenhagen to perform his Congratulations, to celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest's 50th anniversary.
