As reported earlier today, Alcazar is one of the four wild cards for Melodifestivalen 2005 with the song Alcastar. Alcazar's website Alcazarworld.com today showed up with more interesting information on their possible participation in the British final and on their song Alcastar.
“BBC asked us to participate in the British version, but there was never talk about a song called Mr DJ” Magnus says. “It was just a title that a fansite came up with. The songs that were presented to us weren't what we where looking for so that's why we decided to go for Sweden instead!”
The song Alcastar was previously selected among the other 32 songs, but had to be removed when Alcazar at an early state said no to it. “At that time we had our minds set on Britain, and no matter how much we fell in love with 'Alcastar' we simply had to turn it down. But when BBC didn't turn up with a suitable track for us we reconsidered and decided to follow our original idea – follow our hearts and do 'Alcastar'.”
Alcazar will compete with the song Alcastar in the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2005 that will take place on 12th February. Alcastar is written by the compsoers Edberger, Fransson, Larsson, Lundgren and Hansson. The four first names are the ones behind previous Melodifestivalen successes Just like a boomerang, Olé Olé, Runaway and Innan mörkret faller.
Alcastar will be arranged and produced by Anders Hansson, the same guy who produced Alcazar's Not a sinner nor a saint in 2003 and last year's Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entry It hurts / Det gör ont.
