The Alayev Family will probably be the 14th entry in Israel's 2005 national final, Kdam-Eurovision. This is reported today by Yediot Ahronot.
The 2005 Kdam-Eurovision will probably include 14 entries, not 13. The reason the term 'probably' is used is that ever since IBA (Israel's broadcaster) released the so-called Final shortlist of the Kdam, there have been alterations in the list, when the most recent one was yesterday…
This change in the shortlist was caused by the IBA's secretary general after a composer threatened he would appeal the high court to investigate why the national broadcater did not allow the public to submit entries to the Kdam and chose to secretly negotiate with experienced artists. In a 'strange' coincidence, the IBA's secretary general decided to add The Alayev Family, who perform songs composed by the same composer who threatened in legal actions.
The Alayev Family immigrated to Israel 14 years. They play ethnic music from their native region of Bukhara in the former Soviet Union area. The Alayev Family released their first album last year, which unfortunately did not see any success in terms of sales.
The Kdam-Eurovision will be held in Jerusalem on March 2nd, to chose Israel's entrant for the 2005 semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.
