The number of former Eurovision Song Contest participants taking part in the national selections for the upcoming contest in Kiev keeps rising. Turkish broadcaster TRT has just confirmed that Sedat Yüce, the Turkish representative at the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest, will take part in this year's Turkish national final.
TRT also informed us how the complete participant list for the 2005 Turkish Eurovision Song Contest selections looks like. The following 7 artists have been selected:
1. Mine – Sen benim aşkımsın
2. Seçil Hüner – Rumuz andante
3. Gülseren – Rimi rimi ley
4. Nursel Efe – Tek isteğim
5. Barış – Yana Yana
6. Murat Türkücüoğlu – Saydam
7. Sedat Yüce – Yeniden
Sedat Yüce is the most remarkable name among the seven finalists. Yüce represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 with the song Sevgiliye son which finished 11th. In 2003 he won Megahit, the Mediterranean Song Contest, with the song Nereye Kadar?. In 2005 he makes a bid to represent Turkey in Kiev with his self composed song Yeniden.
Other well-known participants include Mine, who used to be popular as one half of the duo Ajlan & Mine. Barış was one of the finalists of the first edition of Idols in Turkey.
In spite of earlier announcements, the 7 songs will be performed during a final to be held in the Ari Studios of Ankara on one single night. The Turkish representative for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest will be selected on Friday 11th February.
