Cypriot broadcaster CyBC informed esctoday.com about their plans for the Cypriot national final. CyBC earlier already announced that Constantinos Christoforou will represent Cyprus at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. On 1st February, he will perform four songs during a special show in which the Cypriot entry for Kiev will be selected.

Two of the songs will be written by Mike Connaris, composer of last year's Cypriot entry Stronger every minute. Constantinos himself will write the two other songs. A combination of a jury and televoting will select the Cypriot entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Cypriot national final, to be held on 1st February, will also make a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest. For the occasion, CyBC will invite several international guests.

With Constantinos Christoforou, CyBC has chosen to send an established artist to Kiev. He already performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996, finishing 9th, and was the lead singer of the group One, which represented Cyprus in 2002 with Gimme. Christoforou was recently awarded a gold record for his second solo album Idiotiki Parastasi.
