Heydi Nunez Gomez, one of the participants of the second edition of Ich bin ein Star Holt mich hier raus, has announced her interest in participating in the upcoming German national final and would like to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest with a song written by Ralph Siegel. Siegel however was the last to know about her plans…

Heydi Nunez Gomez (25), born in the Dominican Republic, became popular in Germany when she participated in the German version of I'm a celebrity, get me out of here and was the German Playmate of the year 1999. Yesterday she announced that she wants to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005.

Heydi Nunez Gomez started her musicial career some months ago with a song produced by Ralph Siegel: Let's spend the night together (Pasemos las noches juntos). The song however didn't reach the top 100 of the German single charts, but turned out to be the start of a cooperation between Nunez Gomez and Siegel.

Last week Ralph Siegel already confirmed esctoday.com that he has plans for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. One of those plans is a return to the German national final if we may believe Heydi Nunez Gomez. I want to take part in Germany with a song written by Ralph Siegel,” she explained on RTL's Punkt 12. “It has to be a song full of latin rhythm.

The announcement followed exactly one week after esctoday.com revealed the end of the cooperation between German broadcaster NDR and music channel VIVA, a cooperation which excluded Ralph Siegel from last year's German national final.

However, only half an hour after we published this article for the first time yesterday, esctoday.com received an e-mail from a completely surprised Ralph Siegel, one of our regular visitors. “I just read the good news about me going for Germany with Heydi Nunez Gomez. To say the truth, it is the first time I hear about this news myself. Sounds funny but I don't know anything about it! She is a nice girl. But?

Probably to be continued…
