Latvia: Eirodziesma 2005 finalists known

Latvian Broadcaster, LTV, held a press conference to announce the 20 songs, out of 64 submitted, that will compete in the semi-finals of Eirodziesma 2005.

These are the 20 semifinalists:

The songs initially submitted by composers from Latvia, Sweden, Germany and other countries were evaluated by the jury of professionals including:

� Alar Kotkas (Estonia): composer, one of the most successful Eurovision authors (he co-wrote Once in a lifetime (4th in 2000) and Runaway (3rd in 2002)).
� Amberlife (Lithuania): performer, one of the most successful signers in Lithuania
� Michael Cederberg (Sweden): works for the Swedish National Radio P3, Sweden's biggest youth music-channel and has been in the Swedish selections and in the Swedish jury for the Eurovision Song Contest several times
� Ramona Forsstrom (Finland): EMI Promotion manager international repertoire
� Edward van de Vendel (the Netherlands): poet, lyricist, received several prestigious awards in the Netherlands
� Janis Lusens (Latvia): composer, one of the most popular and beloved composers in Latvia, author of innumerous songs, a range of rock-operas etc.
� Latvian TV Organizing Committe as well as a group of the best sound-engeneers from Latvia.

Among the performers and the authors several familiar names can be found. Madara Celma, Marta (known as Tatjana Timchuka), C-Stones, 4.elements, Z-Scars, Iedomu Sparni, Chilli, Amber, Nicol, Elina Furmane have participated in Eirodziesma in the past years. Gunars Kalnins makes his Eirodziesma come-back with the only song with lyrics in Latvian. The names of the members of F.L.Y. (who represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003) can be found among the song authors.

The songs will be performed in two semifinals, 10 songs in each semifinal, on 29th January and 5th February. In each semifinal the 5 best songs will qualify for the final. This will be decided by a professional jury and televoting.

The final will take place in Ventpils, on February 26, 2005.
