The broadcasting of Eurosong 2002 has been interrupted by a bom alarm. Transmission stopped at 20:21.
The administration in Schelle received the bom thread ten minutes before the show. It appeared the thread was made from a payphone in Niel. In the studio, director Steve De Konink decided to check the whole studio.
Security staff checked the whole studio, which took around 7 minutes. While the television viewers looked at K3 music, the studio was turned upside-down to check everything. People were asked to look for unusual things under their seats. Some people were laughing, but host Bart Peeters said “this is not a joke”. It appeared there was no bom, and the transmission could go on.
It's not known who did the false alarm.
