The BBC has informed our colleagues from doteurovision that the British selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Making your mind up, will return to BBC screens early next year.

Simon Proctor of the BBC told to doteurovision: Following the success of this year's show, we again have a Saturday night slot in either late February or early March which is great. The songs will come via professional writers and through the British Academy with writers unnamed to keep it a level playing field. We are currently talking to artists and writers and the British Academy are short-listing entries to their SongSearch competition..

The exact number of songs that will take part has yet to be decided, there will be no advance vote on Radio 2.

The format will be similar to this year's format with some tweaks, as it was our first year, some of our ideas worked better than others, so some we will work on”, Proctor explained further. We did some Research after Making your mind up 2004 which was interesting and viewers seemed to like the elements of the show which reflect the Contest format, such as the voting, so we will aim to include more of those where we can. We've had some suggestions from fans which obviously we will factor in as well..

Proctor also said that the BBC will broadcast the qualificationround on Thursday 19th May on BBC 3 again.
