'Constantinos Christoforou to Kiev'

The Cypriot broadcaster CyBC terminated all negotiations with the girl group HI-5 and stated that they “unofficially accepted a proposal of EMI Greece to send Constantinos Christoforou to the Eurovision Song Contest for Cyprus in 2005”. Unofficially? It's likely that CyBC wants to keep all options open!

Christoforou already performed at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996 (see picture), finishing 9th with 72 points, but most of you will most likely remember him as the former lead singer of the group One, which represented Cyprus in 2002 with Gimme. One finished 6th with 85 points.

In a show broadcasted somewhere in the first months of 2005, the audience will get the opportunity to select the best song for Christoforou.

A coincidence is that the Eurovision Song Contest takes place on 21st May,the religious day of Saint Constantine in the Greek Orthodox Church, which is the nameday of Constantinos. Would that bring him luck?
