It has been the question more than once the last couple of years: will Luxembourg return to the Eurovision Song Contest? Last year the discussion even reached the Luxembourgian parliament. The Luxembourgian broadcaster RTL was close to a participation in Istanbul, but when they were informed about the costs of a participation, RTL finally withdrew.

Another year passed by and again the rumours popped up about Luxembourg returning to the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. But things will turn out the same way. RTL programme director Alain Berwick as well as financial director Thomas Rabe announced that RTL will never return to the Eurovision Song Contest, as apparently the Eurovision Song Contest does not fit in their programme. Esctoday.com contacted RTL for a more detailed explanation, but so far no reply reached us.

Luxembourg already participated at the first ever Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and did for the last time in 1993 when Modern Times sang Donne-moi une chance and ended 20th in Millstreet, Ireland.
