Siw Malmkvist, Gitte Haenning and Wencke Myhre will be awarded with a platinum edition of the Goldene Stimmgabel (Golden Tuning Fork), a German prize for commercially successful singers at this year's award celebration on 25 September. German schlager show host Dieter Thomas Heck will present the award.
The Goldene Stimmgabel is an award for the commercially most successful singers of the past twelve months. This year's regular awards will be given, amongst others, to Rosenstolz, De Randfichten, Andrea Berg and to Overground and Mia, both participants of this year's German preselection. Siw, Gitte and Wencke are going to be awarded with a special platinum edition to honour their “merits for the German music scene over the past 40 years”. The three Scandinavian singers enjoyed major success in Germany in the past and presence and scored countless hits and sold-out gigs over the years.
Although of Scandinavian origin, each of the seasoned singers has represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest on past occasions: starting with Norwegian Wencke Myhre back in 1968 with the zestful Ein Hoch der Liebe, closely followed by Swedish Siw Malmkvist in 1969 with the more conventional schlager Primaballerina, and finally Danish Gitte Haenning in 1973 with the hymnic Junger Tag.
The award cerenomy will be broadcast by ZDF on 26 September at 20:15 CET.
