NRK announced more details about their upcoming national final Melodi Grand Prix 2005. Besides the regular competition (with invited artists only) the Norwegian broadcaster plans to celebrate 50 years of Eurovision together with the former Norwegian representatives.
Melodi Grand Prix 2005 in Norway will be different than before. Apart from the competition only being between invited singers, the broadcast will also pay homage to the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest. NRK will invite former Norwegian representatives for a big show at the Spektrum in Oslo on 5th March 2005. “The whole Melodi Grand Prix history will be represented, with many of the schlagers it has offered us” according to Stain Malme, who is responsible for the whole project.
In 2005, Norway won't only celebrate 50 years of Eurovision Song Contest. 2005 also marks the 10th and 20th anniversary of two of Norway's Eurovision Song Contest victories. Secret Garden won in 1995 with the song Nocturne; in 1985 Bobbysocks won with La det swinge.
