Canadian star and former Eurovision Song Contest winner Céline Dion will be awarded a special prize for being the best selling female recording artist of all time. Dion has sold over 175 million records in her career.

Céline Dion will receive the special award this Wednesday at the World Music Awards. Actor Michael Douglas will hand over the Diamond Award, honouring Dion for selling 175 million records between 1987 and August 2004, making her the best selling female recording artist of all time.

Previously the Canadian singer, who won the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland in 1988, sang two songs that were awarded prestigious Oscars for Best Song from a Motion Picture: My heart will go on (Titanic) and for Disney's The beauty and the beast theme song.

The World Music Awards take place on Wednesday at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. This years Eurovision Song Contest winner Ruslana will also be present as well.
