NRK changes the rules for Melodi Grand Prix 2005. Instead of an open competition, NRK will invite composers and artists directly. The Norwegian final will take place on 5th March 2005.

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK changes the concept of the Norwegian national final. To select the song for the 50th Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, the Norwegian preselection will no longer be an open competition.

NRK decided to let a jury invite composers and artists directly, instead of having an open competition. The Norwegian broadcaster is looking for 8 to 10 songs to compete in one final and will actively solicit these directly.

The national competition will be broadcast live from Oslo on Saturday 5th March. The long tradition of televoting in Norway will be combined with a selection jury for the 2005 contest.
